The results might surprise you! Tiffany Shlain's short film 50/50 looks at the arc of women and power throughout history. This often ignored history allows us to contextualize where we are now.

She also discusses the invaluable role of mentors and networks for the advancement of women. Pursuing a mentor and community of support has been shown to be a critical element of success. Men have been way more likely than women to pursue mentors. Shlain encourages women to seek out mentors and communities of support.

I see the value of these things in my own life. I have been learning about and drawing from the wisdom and experience of mentors and communities of support. This helps me in so many ways, including; having a deeper and more complete understanding of issues, increasing my self-awareness, and taking more risks.

What are your thoughts on the film? What role have mentors and communities of support played in your life choices and career? What attributes are important to you in a mentor?
